I'm pretty sure the master was the same for a while but the hose might be different, there are several different setups though so I would stick to first gen master cylinders but you might need an ~'87-88 hose to go to an M5OD

I’m in the same boat with the 2019. Most of anything I do to it is going to be breaking new ground.
