I have a 1986 ford bronco 2, I just moved from alaska to Texas and now need to install an ac system. I've seen the kits but I'm not sure how to install the compressor so it can run with the other pulleys. Has anybody ever done this to a similar model.

Any help is appreciated, thank you

Check out Vintage Air of San Antonio. They make kits for this purpose and have the answers to all those questions. They have brackets to add a compressor but you may have to fabricate something and get belt/s to fit.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Might be able to find stuff in a junk yard. Compressor and bracket, maybe a complete servicable system plus the evaporator box and the controls to fit your dash. I would think those parts would be same for a Ranger of that generation with the same engine.

Disclaimer; i could be wrong. I blew it on a transmission question earlier today.

You will need the compressor bracket, which it mounts to, but you also need the AC pulley for the crank. It is an extra piece that bolts on to the existing crank pulley to add a 3rd rib.

Here's a couple of places in Texas that say they have a compressor. They may have the bracket there also, but if you go aftermarket there is no guarantee the compressor will fit the factory bracket.
