I was curious how many actual rubber hoses come on the A/C system in my 1990 Ranger with the 4 Liter engine... I have looked all online, and found no diagrams at all. Main brand auto stores like napa and autozone sell the Discharge and suction hose, but is that all ? It can't be. Right? read on some other fourms to see if it had been posted before, but i can't find an exact post. I also read that ford doesn't make hoses anymore? Im starting to think this whole a/c Retrofit is a huuuuuge can of worms. :icon_surprised:

For the 97 4.0, there are two main hoses. one is an assembly, and has most of the rubber components. I just got all of the parts from rockauto last month. I am trying to get some time to put it all together and redo it. I spent about 500 bucks on parts, but I am replacing everything except the condenser and evaporator.

I will try to get some pics and routing for you. Mine is already r134a, so there might be some differences.

ok. there could be some differences because of the year, but the compressor is in the same place and the engine bay looks generally the same. but thanks
