I have looked, and can’t seem to find information on a swap for 2wd, all I seem to find deals with 4/awd with transfer case.
what, transmission do you use with a 5.0 awd donor into a 2 wheel drive automatic transmissio?
thanks for any assistance

Swap the AWD 4R70W out for a RWD version, or, swap the tail cone and output shaft to convert the transmission to RWD only.

Crown Vics, Marquis, Town Cars, even V8 'stangs use the 4R70W so easy to find in RWD form

The RangerStation historically was the 4WD with the RangerPowerSports being the 2WD site. But the competition folded a few years back, so while we 2wd enthusiasts are here in small numbers, the majority are still 4wd - and the articles tend to match.

You can't just "swap the output shaft"- it is installed from the front. So, you have to pull the entire transmission apart - then install the 2wd output and reassemble. You can look at it in positive light - you have opportunity to rebuild the transmission.

Win is correct on his list, but missed the 3.8 Essex V-6 'stangs also use the 4R70W. And you don't want a 4R70W of a 4.6 V-8 'stang/Cown Vic, etc - they have the wrong bell housing. If you are in southern states, you can also find the occasional unicorn - 2wd V-8 Explorer.

If your Ranger has a manual, the F-150 with 4.2 and M5R2 as does the M5R2 out of a T-bird with 3.8 aka SuperCoupe. Several individuals have used T-5s from Mustangs, with fabricated hydraulic clutch linkage.

Thanks, but both are automatics, and wanted to keep the auto, a tranny rebuild is probably a good idea, since it has some miles on it.
Thanks
