I have a 1999 ford ranger 2.5ltr 4clndr.
It started Wyth the windshield wipers turning on when I used signal. Then check engine light came on for several weeks then turned off: driving sometimes the truck would stall in first . Not shut down , jst stall then I would have to take out of gear then put back in first and it would be fine. Sometimes. Not that often. Then coming home from work last summer. I turned off truck to talk to a customer and it wouldn't start. No crank nothing. I since put a jump switch attached to starter, but no lights . Can't drive at night and no dash lights.
The stereo works dome light and hazzards break lights turn signals all work.
It is an air conditioning model, but roll up windows.

Seems like your truck is doing some weird stuff for sure. Might be that some of the issues you're having are related... but this isn't the forum to address your problems.

I would suggest posting up one of the problems in the correct forum and we'll see if we help you figure it out.

Welcome to TRS...

I renamed and moved your thread to the proper area in order for you to get some help.

start checking all your grounds. And replace them if needed.

Or... I could have done that. LOL!

So... being we're in the engine section... did you do any testing prior to jumping direct to the starter? Do you have a voltmeter? Did you try jumping the clutch switch?

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Yes I do and no I haven't tried that yet.
First I need to find location of clutch switch
I did pull number 1 fuse in engine bay 50 amp and it shows good but the test light went out when I pulled it, so the manual says that it's the ip fuse. I don't really know if that's the problem, because I started there and the only one that had issue was the fuse to radio and it didn'tgo completely out. Jst dimmed down .

The clutch switch is attached to the clutch pedal. Its purpose is to prevent you from starting the engine without disengaging the clutch.

Okay, I found the clutch switch I think. Black plastic wraps around rod Wyth multi colored wires coming out of it?
Now it seems to slide up and down that shaft, but this one is down. Is that an issue?
