Hi all,

I replaced my DPFE sensor a couple weeks ago. WOW! What a difference. Truck would not rev above 3200 or so. Now it will go up to 5k or so. Feels like a whole new vehicle. Friday I stumbled onto the throttle cable mod. Sure enough, even better! Can't believe how well it was running.
So I was driving home with a huge s-eating grin when I heard a weird whine or - something. Not really sure what. Still driving fine, but I was near a rest stop, so I stopped to check. As soon as I stopped I saw steam coming from the hood. There was coolant pouring out! I had to get a tow home.
So here I am, assuming it's the water pump. I've got a lot of parts stripped from the front & 10 of 12 bolts out of the water pump. The other two are loose, and I can wiggle the water pump, but now I'm stuck. The first is the one behind the tensioner (approx 2 o'clock). I can't figure out how to loosen the bracket. Even if I do, what happens with the metal AC line - not much slack there. The second is about 11 o'clock has a thin metal clamp connected to the AC line. When I try to loosen the bolt, it spins the clamp! Is that supposed to happen? I have it a little loose, but I can't spin it any more. I'm tempted to cut the clamp, but not sure what consequence it will have down the road.
Any help appreciated. Had to take today off to work on it!

Todd

I got the alternator bracket off, so I finally got that 11th bolt. The AC line bracket was actually in the way of the back nut. My wrench wouldn't fit, so I thought I was missing something. Once I got the alternator bracket off I could see what I was dealing with. I used a rubber mallet to jam a wrench on the back nut & then it was easy. The Catch-22: can't get at the 3rd alternator bracket bolt with the AC clamp in the way, can't get at the alternator clamp with the bracket in the way. But it's done.
That leaves the one behind the tensioner pulley bracket. I find thee bolts fairly easily on the leftish front side. Those don't seem to loosen the bracket,so there must be at least one more hiding somewhere...

good to a parts site that has pictures of the part or gasket.
Napaonline is the one I usually use.

Got it all done. Those 2 bolts on the back/under side of the PS/AC bracket were a pain to get to, but I got em. Finished up at midnight Monday in a light snow and holding a flashlight in one hand. I was in way over my head, but I'm glad to be so much more familiar with my truck now!
