99 3.0 fan clutch

Sorry if this is stupid question
Do they all have fan clutch?
Mine does not.....I have to replace water pump... should I put fan clutch on.....

Yes they all had one, previous owner probably swapped it out for a fiberglass model?

Fan clutch can use less horsepower so more for the rear wheels but only talking maybe 2HP

Make sure current fan feels balanced, and blades are all the same not missing areas, out of balance fan can cause water pump issues

Not sure I would replace it with a new fan clutch, might look at getting rid of mechanical fan and replace it with an electric fan

With no mechanical fan you get 3HP gain and better MPG, only thing that can do both

Thanks for info...I am 2nd owner so you maybe right....it is fiberglass fan....will look into e fan...thanks again...oh looking to put dual exhaust on...any suggestions there?

Never done a dual exhaust on a Ranger

Not real sure it would help anything, like on most vehicles, better sound maybe

If you had a bad exhaust system then wouldn't hurt anything, extra cost, extra weight

There is alot of misinformation out there about exhaust systems, so just a heads up

There is no back pressure in a working stock exhaust system, that would be stupid engineering, which I guess can happen
So "opening up" the system with dual exhaust is BS, unless it was bad/failing
So grain of salt on "where" the info is coming from, do they sell exhaust systems, lol

As long as you're fooling around with the exhaust system, and, if you can get away with it, I'd convert your catalytic converter to a non-alytic converter. I KNOW I picked up 15 to 25 more HP after the modification.

A working muffler or Cat converter can not effect power or performance, either way, thats a MYTH

If you RE-gained any power it was because the Cat was broken up inside and clogged, restricting exhaust flow

When you go to replace your fan clutch make sure that for the new one that you order that you have the right size wrench to install it. I replaced mine and the new clutch has a much larger nut on it than the OEM one. I had to order a 36mm wrench just for the fan clutch. Bonus is that now I can run around and pretend to be an angry mechanic.

Yup. OEM uses a 22mm wrench for the nut and the replacement I ordered from rockauto uses a 36. Works great, just a larger nut.

In my truck, the large nut is usually behind the steering wheel.
