Im interested in doing this but what year and model Volvos?
Mine came from a 2004/5 S40.

Most of them will have them. They're buried in the front bumper. Every Mazda 3 has them as well.

They're stupid expensive on eBay, $140 range. Mine was $14 at the JY.

If you're (or anyone else for that matter) is heading to the trail ride next month, I can try to grab one for then.

Just MAKE SURE to get the wiring harness. There are two plugs.

I'd like to see someone successfully swap in a fully electric power steering unit from a Saturn, etc.. Those things are titties! Effortless steering with ZERO noise.

Honestly can't hear mine over the Flowmaster and the stupid ricer intake. Maybe on a non riced out truck you'd hear it. My fuel pump (340 LPH) is definitely louder. I can hear that big bastard at all times. ?

I thought about the Saturn steering, but shyed away from it. Don't trust the machines and all...

My old man had 2 Saturn cars and he got 280k out of both of them. I think my 2011 Mitsubishi lancer has some sort of electric motor for the steering I'll have to check it out when the old lady gets home that car has 176k on it no problems so I can't complain about it either

I really like what this kid did on his install. Adding a potentiometer to adjust the speed might be an awesome option to have for a performance vehicle.. With some units having the ability to adjust the variable assist based on VSS signal (MPH), it could really change the overall performance of a vehicle.

The only problem I see is that I've read some reports of people not having the steering self-center after turning.. So that would have to be looked in to.

The aftermarket has even started getting in to electric power steering now:

use A hose from a 92 ranger. you'll have to bend the line to fit but it will have the correct fittings on both ends. sae fitting on the box side and a metric fitting on the pump side.

The PS pump from a 98 Explorer 5.0 is different. Looks more like the one from a SOHC 4.0.

The 5.0 pump is a Cardone 20277, the 4.0 pump is a 20279. I have used a 20279 with a recirculating gear box and had it work. If you can get lines made it should work.
Can I use the same reservoir as the 5.0 pump and the new 90 line I got has that same fitting as the 5.0 pump

Using brackets and pump from a 99 Explorer 5.0 (the engine and trans donor) in my 97 Ranger for nearly 2 years now with no issue. Local heavy equipment shop made a pressure side line for me.

Rack and pinion vs recirculater box.
