I just purchased an 02 ranger I would like to lift it to the height of an edge/4x4 in stock form. Rear is pretty easy my question is for the front is better to go with spindles or springs?( yes I used the search feature just didn’t find my answer)

My credo
drives a stick shift ranger
which one allows the alignment to be done correctly? i wonder if lift springs kick the camber off too much?

i have on idea, i am just wondering if the spindle lift keeps everything stock spec so maybe it would be easier?

I'm assuming that by 2wd you mean coil spring, because the Edge is 2wd also but has torsion bars like the 4wd.

Well, the difference between a coil and torsion bar in the rear is a lift block. For 1998-2007 it was a 2" lift block, later was shorter.

I would assume about the same difference in height in the front. For a 2" lift, I would probably go for lift springs. I think a spindle lift is going to be 4" lift which would probably be about right to match a leveled Torsion bar suspension truck.

Having said that, I've never tried to lift a coil spring Ranger. I've done my torsion bar 4wd slightly, and now it's getting lowered.

As far as I know, all the Edge models have torsion bars for the front springs. So, the only way to lift the front is re-indexed keys. Beyond that, you are looking at on of the lift kits for a 4X4 truck. That may or may not work since I understand there are are some differences between Edge RWD front knuckles and 4X4 front knuckles. You might be able to make it work and maybe not. I'm not sure if anyone ever tried to go the torsion bar lift kit direction with an Edge before.

He didn't say what he has aside from 2wd. I'm assuming coil spring because he says:
A misreading on my part then. Thanks for the correction.
