I have a 98 ford ranger 2.5 3 inch body lift with 15x31x10.5 wheels. I picked up a rear axle 7.5 4.10 9 inch breaks from wreaking yard after installing it there was a slight wabble on tires that got worse at higher speeds. What I have done so far is put new outer bearings and seal twice, changed out both axle shafts with used one, wobble still there. Bought new axle shafts still wabbles, replaced differential bearing. put in new gears in differential. new tires and rims still wabbles new break drums, Put the truck on stand and you can see and hear the drum intermitting rubbing on backing plate. any help would be appreciated.

I would make triple dog sure the rim fits on the drum and axle correctly. I know on some of the cars ford used a hub centric setup, and the rim fits very tight over the axle sticking out. You really have to look carefully to see if your rims are fitting ok.

One sign something is up, you have to tighten and tighten and tighten the lug nuts. They should spin easily with the wrench till they stop and then just a fraction of a turn they will be tight.

I have 2 different sets of aftermarket steel wheels where the design of the hub area has the metal around the bolt holes
standing away from the drum/disk surface when the "ring" of the wheel makes first contact.
laying a straight edge across the wheel's hub surface shows that the bolt holes are recessed.
I use a 3 step torque, alternating pattern to tighten those wheels.

I have tried a lot of different ways of tightening the bolts thinking the same thing. I have move front wheels to the back same wobble problem. I talk to a guy that works on axle and was told that its a good chance that my axle is slightly bent enough to cause a wobble in the bigger tires. There is a chance that it is as i got this axle out of the wreaking yard.
