New here but I have a 1997 B4000 with 205,000 miles and the rear end which is an 8.8 373 is totally trashed. Will the rear end from a 2001 Ford Ranger work without any mods or am I better off not venturing down that road?

My credo
Lead follow or get out of my way
I'm like 99% sure it will bolt right up.

Yes, any b series 94+ is just a ranger with a different front clip and bedsides

I concur, a Ranger axle should bolt right in. Make sure you get new u bolts for the swap. You'll need to check the torque on the u bolt nuts after driving a bit a few times until the nuts no longer rotate using a torque wrench. They usually don't tighten up and stay tight with the initial installation.

Ok cool, thanks! Also does anyone know if I can install LED lights in my dash without any mods? Some of my dash lights are out and I figured its time to upgrade.

Search "(bulb number) led" on Amazon, rockauto should list the bulb size, it might be 168

LEDs are usually polarity specific. So do a test before you install the cluster. You might have to rotate a bulb or two in order to get them to work. Don’t panic if they don’t all work on the first try.

believe any "8.8" rear end would work out of a ranger, crown vic, mustangs. that should work !
