Hello all! Just starting my 5.0 swap on my 97 2wd ext cab ranger. The old 3.0 blew a head gasket and water pump and not to mention the tranny is garbage hahah. So I got a 302 efi motor from a 93 f150 complete with engine harness and computer as well as a tranny which is an AOD or the newer version. I don't know how to tell the difference between the two though so if someone could enlighten me with how I could do that. It has a harness coming out from it so not sure if that makes a difference or not. I'll post pics tomorrow when I'm out in the garage. So my plan is to get the oil relocate kit and the hedmen swap headers. My question is, will these headers work if I use the sn-95 motor mounts. And will I still need those motor mount plates with those mustang motor mounts, or will they bolt to the chassis without the plates? I would like to use the f150 wire harness. I found a blog online that thins it out, guy swapped a 5.0 into a 66 mustang. So I plan on thinning out the harness to the basics to get the motor running and driving. Suppose that's all for now. I'll have more questions in the future of course but small steps for now haha. Again I'll post pics of what I've got tomorrow! Thanks guys!!

AOD transmission

And this is my DD. 1999 4.0 4x4. It has 33x12.50x15 general grabbers and 15" steel wheels. It also has a 3in body lift that was put on by the previous owner. Everything as you see it is how I bought it. Except for the new tires and wheels. I plan on "restoring" the paint and body. Making it a nice driver and weekend off roader. It will eventually get a 5.0 as well but seeing as how this is my first swap. I thought I'd do the 2wd first becuz it seems easier imo. Once I figure out the transmission and t-case combo to a 5.0 I'll start getting stuff. Probably take this motor and put it in the 4x4 once I finally decide to fix my itch and get a coyote 5.0 mustang. But in the mean time, this swap is a lot cheaper and I'll learn a whole bunch of stuff along the way. Keep me satisfied for awhile.

Staying efi since the plug doesn't seem to big. Just have to get the pin lay out for both the f150 plug and ranger. I should be fine with the stock f150 pan since it's a rear sump.
