I am looking at buying another ranger soon, years i am looking at are 95-97. Have narrowed it down to either a 2.3 5spd or a 3.0 auto. This Ranger will be a standard cab, short bed, 2wd, and will remain stock. Going to be a daily driver, that way my 94 can get a rest, and will be driven whenever. I know the durability of the older 5spd, and know the 3.0 is slow when mated with an auto. Aware that 94 and older auto suck ass...how reliable are the auto trannies in the years 95,96,97? I found local a low mileage 97 3.0 auto, was an ex navy base truck...real clean truck.

I think they are an updated A4LD. The 4R44E or whatever. Not as stout as a manual but way better then the A4LD
