I posted this in the quick response section before I saw this section.. sorry.. help!!!
I have been chasing a coolant leak for a while. About a year and a half ago my truck with just 100k on it started to run hot.. I took it to a local mechanic and he changed the water pump and the thermostat. It seemed to help, but the truck still smelled like coolant. I found out that the thermostat housing was bowed and would not seal. I changed that and it seemed to help. Well a couple months ago the truck started to run warm again and I have to run the heater to keep it under control.. So I replaced the water pump and the thermostat again. The gasket on the water pump looked like he had just put it on over the rust and not even cleaned it. Here is where I think my current problem is.. The metal pipe that connects to the water pump from under the alternator.. First we tried to put it back on without taking the alternator off.. stupid. I think we didn't get the pipe all the way in and bend the wings that hold it in place with the bolts because when I poured coolant in and it hit that level it just started gushing out.. The pipe would no longer seal into the water pump because the wings were hitting the metal and not letting it go in.. I went to advance.. They don't carry these parts they said only ford would.. I then tried to bend the wings back to give it more room. I put it in and it seemed to seal. I poured coolant in and it did not leak. I put the truck back together and started it and it started leaking immediately from that area. I think I screwed that part up. Can you buy these parts new? Does someone have a good one that is used I can get quick.. I am so sick of this truck.. All I do is fix it and it only has 100k on.. Please give me some suggestions quick..
