A Buddy just picked up 95 f150 2wd short bed 5spd with a 5.0l. he says it's hard to get 1st when your stopped from neutral but if you go 2nd then 1st it's no problem.

Think shifter bushings would make a difference? Or just worn out shift forks

Change the fluid. And run pennzoil synchromesh. It helps with the synchros getting worn out. Common problem on the m5od trans.

Sounds to me like air in the hydraulic system... I would try bleeding it first but check for leaks at the slave cylinder and low fluid in the reservoir.

In my experience, grinding when going into gear usually indicates worn synchros. Just hard to get into gear is usually related to the clutch not releasing completely (hydraulic system issue.) Worn shift forks and worn/missing shifter bushings will also cause issues.

Ok I'll have him grab the new oil and we'll try bleeding the system and such. Sneak the inspection plug out have a look see in there
