I have some questions on the difficulty of swapping from a 94 3.0 to a 4.0 similar year OHV or earlier?

Will the Transmission swap from the 3.0 to the 4.0?
Can I use any of the wiring harness from the 3.0 to the 4.0?
Do I basically have to change everything?

Transmission is a no go. The bell patterns between the two are not even close. The starter is in roughly the same spot, that's as good as it gets there.

Harness, can be done, but as said it is quite a bit harder than finding a 4.0 harness. One person here, who's user name escapes me at the moment, is running a 4.0 in is 98 with a 3.0 harness. OBDII is far pickier than EEC-IV. The big issue you will run up against is that the 4.0 was always EDIS, and the 3.0 had a distributor up until 95.

So yeah, best to just change everything.

IMO, not a good swap just because you can got out and buy a factory 4.0l Ranger

Anytime you swap to a different displacement, you need the engine/trans, computer and wiring harness for that engine and computer

So 3.0l to 4.0l is the same as 3.0l to 5.0l(V8) swap, but with a V8 you have something the factory never made, well to sell publicly, lol

Well one exception, 2.9l to 4.0l swap was not as complicated a displacement change
