93 Cobra 1.7 roller rockers and Explorer valve covers

I did a search but didn't see anything conclusive. Can the 93 1.7 Cobra roller rockers be used with the 2001 Explorer valve covers with no modification?

If there's an oil baffle inside, you may have to clearance that, otherwise they'll fit, just as they will with anyother vavle cover.

Thanks. The 93 Cobra valve covers and the 01 Explorer valve covers look very much the same. However, that does not mean that they are the same in regards to clearances. I kind of thought the same thing, probably the oil baffle. I just wondered if anyone had used this set up in the past and if so were there any issues.

I seem to recall that those covers are similar, too.
If there is an oil fill baffle, don't remove it. You may need to modify it, but if you remove it, the intake will ingest lots of oil.
I was able to modify my Fox body style aluminum covers fairly easily to clear the Crane 1.7s.

It's one of them things, most do clear but some don't. FordMike's cleared with the 1.6 and the "E" cam but mine didn't by a very little. FelPro does make a double thick VC gasket that might help if you do have problems.

I had to "readjust" my baffle after shimming my rockers slightly (fine-tuning the geometry).
So the clearance is close!

The 93 Cobra covers were the same ones used on the std 5.0's. The 94-95 Cobra covers and the Explorer covers are sandsich style covers meant to mitigate rocker noise
