Trying to upgrade the alternator in my 93 4L Ext Cab 4x4 5spd.
My truck has power locks, windows, good headunit and speakers.
I have searched and have not found the answer im looking for, i need to know what year explorer to get the 130 amp alternator from that is a direct swap(bolting up wise & wiring wise).
If anyone has any info i would greatly appreciate it.

The 130amp alternator looks similar, but if you pay attention to detail and you've seen both the 95A and the 130A side-by-side you can tell them apart....

Both alternators are visually similar in that they are with the exclusion of the mounting ears basically cylindrical

The big differences are that the 130A is just a little "Fatter" and has a slightly
broader "Face" than the 95A

I've seen both alternators scattered on many years.

You've gotta remember these 1993-94 are 18-19 years old, do you really
think any of those Explorers are still wearing their original alternators?

Would you want it if it was original?

BTW, before installing the 130A alternator in a Ranger you must either verify that you have the 130A alternator fuseable link
(integral with the cable that runs from the output terminal to the battery-side (as opposed to the "Starter Side") of the fender mounted starter solenoid.

The 130A alternator REQUIRES the double (parallel) fuseable link

The 95A usually only has the "single" 12ga wire.

A 1993 Explorer cable will work fine on a 1989-1992 Ranger but the 1993-up ranger wears it's battery on the drivers side which requires a different alternator cable.

BTW, if you have any trouble finding a 130A alternator shoot me a PM,
i've got half a dozen of them.
