First time on here this is a great site.. Anyway I have a vibration at around 55 thur 70 ish and went through the usual steps, tires balanced / rotated alignment no change, figured maybe u-joints changed them out no change, noticed about a pint of trans fluid spilling out when I pulled the driveshaft. I figure a real trans seal. Shifts fine no problems ckecked fluid level a bit low no real issue. Still have the vibration, and should I be majorly concerned about the fluid leak.

Is it a 2WD? The output bushing has been known to wear, causing driveshaft flop.

At this speed, the driveshaft is the most likely culprit. U-joint, diff input (pinion) and and trans output problems can all cause this. Some slop is alowable from the trans output, but no slop is allowed from the pinion bearing on the other end of the drive shaft.

The vibration is rattling the heck out of that seal at the back of the trans, causing it to leak. The seal may or may not be damaged.

Most likely, the driveshaft is out of ballance. One thing to check before bringing the drive shaft to a driveshaft shop, is the u-joint centering. Check that all of the u-joint caps are at the exact same depth in their yokes.

Just to close out this string. I had a heck of a time finding a output shaft bushing, but as it turns out that was not the problem, the rear trans mount was split, I replaced it and all my troubles went away. Thanks for all the help, this is a great resource....

If the discussion ever rolls back around to the tailshaft bushing...
it is NOT available seperatly, you replace the "tail cone" of the trans as a unit.
