so i just got this 92 ranger. it's ugly, rusty, should do just fine... after i get the 4wd workin
so i did the entire trouble shooting process in the tech section... 3 times, all except this, post up if i still have any problems
at first the module light didn't flash for the self diagnostic. thanks to the great wiring diagrams on the site i was able to run a new line from the under hood fuse. now it flashes like four times and goes out during the test. dash switch tests out and after a rebuild the shift motor works when jumped off the battery. (i didn't pull apart the small section on the back to clean it... no t20 torx bit or whatever. it's on my list tho.)
so now the problem(s) is this, at the shift motor pigtail i get no 12v readin on the orange and yellow lines even grounded to a jump from the battery's negative post and the wires don't test broken.
also i set everything to the 4h mark on the t-case. the problem is i got a short open open short read from the motor wires indicating it's in a mid-shift position of 2h-4h but the front axle spins and the 4x4 lights indicate it's in 4x4 mode. i also tried spinning the piece to a further location between 4h 4l marks and got the same short open open short test result.
so does any one have any more ideas or is it pretty sure fact the module and or shift motor are bad?
all that and the question is one sentence long lol
thanks everyone, the site's great
