well, a so called 'mechanic' destroyed my 24 yr old ignition cylinder with his heavy handedness (along with a couple of pigtail connectors for the elec 4x4 and rear wiper) so I bought a new switch...whatever you wanna call it....my chiltons says steering wheel needs pulled and I ran outta daylight ...at the point where I need to rent a puller and do it to it...it has tilt steering too and the book says to remove the lever...jeez whatta p.i.t.a. not 100% sure if this is necessary...I know the switch needs to be in the run position and a 1/8" punch to depress the locking pin to pull it out...problem is, I cant tell for the life of me where to access the pin from...I know, the wheel has to come off first...anyone been thru this b4? thx from Daytona beach where salt air is the enemy.:icon_hornsup:

I have accessed the switch on the column by dropping the column from the dash. it's a bit of a pain to reach but doable. No need to remove the steering wheel.
If it's the lock cylinder, then you need to push a pin or small screwdriver into the small hole under the lock cylinder, I think in the plastic. The key needs to be in and turned to run IIRC. Again no need to remove the wheel.
Good luck,

Richard
