Can you buy DOM tubing locally? It would be cheaper than having them ship you fixed lengths of it. I also want to say that Barnes 4wd is typically cheaper when it comes to heim's and tube ends and stuff.

I used GM 1 ton tie rod ends and just had to ream out the knuckles a bit.

I think your tie rods will hit the center link on up travel in the drawing you have there, and the tie rods will be hitting eachother where they cross, unless you add a bend to one of them

I can, but at the moment, it’s the same price as buying it in short lengths, online. I think the difference was around a dollar per foot. The cost of fuel to go to town and pick it up, would probably negate the savings over buying online. So, I just ordered short lengths for now. When I go to start installing the coil overs, I’ll probably buy a bender and 3-4 sticks of 1.75x.120. I ordered the enduro joints through Barnes. I got them last month.

I think I’ve settled on the ruff stuff gm cross over kit and I’ll rebuild the steering when I install the coil overs.

In my sketch, the driver’s side tie rod is on the front side of the idler/drag link. It will be on the back side. I’m also, almost certain that by setting the idler arm a couple inches further back than the pitman arm, by using RuffStuff’s offset TRE’s and putting a slight bend in the tie rod’s, it’ll clear without any issues. But I won’t know until I start building it.

I got a few hours of work done today. It got too darn hot though, so I took the rest of the day off.

This heat sure kills my drive to get this truck done… I finished pulling the gears apart, tonight. More to come tomorrow!

Sounds like you've got it all figured out, can't wait to see it all get built!

How are you going to mount the idler? When I did mine, I had trouble getting it where I wanted it because of the engine crossmember being in the way

I’m gonna have to design it as I go. My plan is to use a stock pitman arm, so I can set it lower. Then I’ll adjust for the height. But I have some 2” x 2” x .25” square tube so I think I’ll attempt to make the bracket out of that. If that doesn’t work, I have some 2x6x.25” I can use.

Prepped the passenger side center U joint. I also tacked the cap in, but I didn’t take pictures.
I need to buy some minincut off wheels for my die grinder so I can grind the relief a little cleaner. Gonna run to napa in a little bit to get everything.

Damn dude you're killing it even in this heat. Those beams look great, nice and beefy! Nice welds too. Love to see the TTB still getting love.

Thanks, man! I’m trying. I work for a couple hours and then take a beer break. My welder started to over heat on me during my last pass on the driver’s bottom, that one turned out ugly.
Front and rear will be almost 100% rebuilt. I’m trying to do it right, to make it reliable. I cover a ton of ground and I don’t have anyone but the wife and kids to come save me out here.

@Rowdy Fitzgerald just found your thread and have enjoyed reading through it and will definitely be following the progress. Ways out on the axles on my little project but will definitely revert back to some of this. Keep up the good work man. Was that John Deere green on the axles?

Thank you, I’ve been learning as I go with this one. I’m liking how it’s turning out. Yeah I had 4 extra cans of John Deere Green implement paint. I thought I had black but I didn’t. So, now she has green front legs and I’ll eventually paint the rear end too.
