I was cruising around at work with my little 89 4x4 5spd and everyone was admiring how awesome it was and how good it was running. Then all of a sudden it fell on its face. 0 power to even take off. Can’t get it to go over 30km/hr.
ive put new
Plugs/wires. Spark all 6
Fuel pump/filter
Robbed every sensor off my parts b2
Have 34psi fuel pressure-bounces between 30 and 40 as I’m driving it
Vacuum strong enough to suck my finger into any hose.
no fuel past the regulator
And fixed numerous broken/melted wires.
should I move onto timing or injectors? I’m going insane chasing this lil gremlin!
Thanks for any help on this guys!

Scan it for codes.
I’m hoping to pick up an adapter soon to do that. I just assumed it would be a spark or fuel issue. The more I look and read it could be any number of things

Google testing for restricted exhaust... using a vacuum gauge.\

See what that shows you.

I should add I removed the exhaust already. Just checked the timing. Looks like it’s at 11/12 with the spout out over 22 with it in

It does sound like a mostly clogged cat.. Same symptoms as my old 86 Ranger when it clogged up.

Have you visually checked the throttle butterfly is opening fully?

I have not. But I will. I gave the aic a good clean and cleaned up the ground to frame last night. Seemed to have improved it. I’m driving it today and getting similar symptoms but not exactly the same.
I can only give it 1/2 throttle or it sputters and chokes out. The longer I drive it the worse that gets

It’s open about 1/4 inch at idle, max 1/2” as I rev past 2000

Not much left to swap out at this point. Computer, coil...

Gonna have to pull the codes. There's a write-up on this site that tells you how to do it.

Maybe use a plastic bag or tester on the radiator cap to check for head gasket issues? Might have an exhaust side blown gasket. I had similar issues, no sign of it in oil. New plugs and wires, ignition and sensors all good but just not a ton of power. Ended up being the head gasket...wasn't loosing coolant super fast so I didn't notice right away.
