I am trying to find more information on our this little truck. My husband likes to do trades for this that he hasn't seen and ended up with thus ranger and it gas the required Zimmer tag. The paint isn't the best but not sure what it is worth or where to locate more info.

I was hoping there was a registery or someway to find the actual Zimmer package that was originally ordered

Doing things wrong, until I get it right.

Maybe if you posted a the VIN or a pic of the Zimmer tag, some one can help a little more.

I recently saw a new Zimmer that used a newer Mustang ( on TikTok ) as a base, so they are still making cars. Maybe you could reach out to them.

The original Zimmer company closed in 1989 when it filed for bankruptcy.

In 1996 someone bought the rights to use the Zimmer name.

Some where in those 8 years all earlier records and paperwork were lost/destroyed.

With yours being modified and the original paint scheme gone, to most people it's just a Ford Ranger with a V-8.

It would take a small fortune to restore this truck, much more than it would be worth.

If you can get $3000 for it, I'd be surprised.

Yep. If I got my hands on one of those that's almost exactly what I'd do with it. Performance engine, lowered, and super wide tires in back.

Doubt they made enough of them for people to care. It is just an old Ranger.... we all think they're cool but it's not a special edition Mustang or something like that. Not super desirable outside of our world.

Also, there were a million aftermarket conversion companies out there in the 80's. They all made different stuff. Zimmer, Southern Coach, Gladiator, RDI, Centurion, Choo Choo Customs... to name a few. There are so many variants and so few of them that actually exist that it's hard to create an actual registry. The Rare Rangers & Bronco II's forum here is about the closest thing to that anywhere on the internet, we try to document all the cool stuff.

You forgot Saleen. Even a big popular name like that didn't do enough Rangers to warrant a registry. The best chance rangers have to get that interest would be the sto main in house special editions the GT from the late 80s and the Thunderbolt. Once again, not enough examples built or interest involved for people to care about building a registry.

Enjoy it as it, make it your own, or pass it along to someone else that will. Which ever you do thank you for sharing and keep us posted. If you do the latter, please post it up in the classifieds here, there may very well be someone that wants it.

If I was keeping it, I would put a radiator shroud around that flex fan.

Being an automatic V-8 Ranger with what is probably a Ford 9"? rear axle, I would say that would be a desirable vehicle to own or sell in today's market.
