I would like to start off by saying that if I spray ether in the intake it will start. O have a fuel pump ( it is wired in by it's self to eliminate a power issue there) hooked up to a external tank. I have a strong blue spark on all 6 plugs and fuel in the fuel rail. I amde my own pulse testor for the injectors when I had the fuel rail out to clean it and they all had a decent spray pattern. I hooked a test light up to each injector plug and nothing. With that being said the carpet around where the computer is located is wet could the thing run on ether with the computer being bad. It has been sitting for 23 years

Yes it would run on ether if the ECM was bad.

I know theres some injector grounds that bolt, i believe to the intake plenium. I would check those connections/wires first.

You can pull out the ecm and actually pull the cover off it and look for moisture damage inside.

Grounds are hooked up so I guess that means ecm is bad anyways I'm headed out to my shop to pull it I'll take pics and post them cause I'll have no idea what I'm looking at

There is rust on the outside of the exam and rust on one of the capacitors on the inside guess the ecm is bad

If youre junkyardin youll need an 86/87 2.9 ecm. 88-92 has no EGR, you can use an 88-92 but youll haveta disable/block off the EGR system.

OK, since all the injectors get power from the same wire, start tracing it back and find out where it is broken.

It's important to note that the injectors receive a constant power source... the ECM will then pulse a ground signal to activate the injectors.

Ok just a little update. I rechecked and cleaned all grounds with a wire wheel on my grinder. I went and got a new computer control relay and the green relay (can't remember what it goes to) and now all it does is backfire like a mad man I did have a few plug wires on the wrong plugs so I looked up the correct firing order and got all wires where they are supposed to be and it still backfires. I am at my wits end with this thing. where is the ground fe the back of the block supposed to go on the fire wall or does it matter. I do greatly appreciate all the help you guys have give me.

Over on the corral a guy followed the firing order but was off one place on the cap. He was told to check tdc on cylinder one to be sure where the number one wire connected.
