I have a question about a truck i'm buying this weekend. Its a 1984 Ranger thats already been set up for a 5.0 motor. The guy that owns it had a motor in it for 4 months with a C4 auto, and a fuel cell in the bed. I asked him what rear-end he has in the truck, he said a 7.5 with stock gears. My question is how long will this rear end with stand the 5.0? And is there any way I can strengthen the rear end to handle more until i can afford to put a 8.8 in? I know theres gears on the market, but I was just wondering if theres an aftermarket for the 7.5's?:icon_confused:

That rear end will hold up fine, as long as you dont put on racing slicks and do hole shots.

He's right......I got 5,000 on my truck with the stock Ranger rear end...I wouldn't do any 300+ h.p. hole shots either with the 7.5" gears....and it would probably be a lot cheaper just to buy a boneyard rear end to upgrade your truck......but if you behave, you won't need to upgrade...

Well I bought the truck...:icon_thumby: Heres a link to see it. I was wondering were I should start with it? It has a fuel cell, and remote oil filter already. I plan on keeping the 7.5 rear for a while. It has a roll pan and brand new bumper. The interior was just redone. I was wondering how shift kits do in the C4's?

nice purchase. As far as shift kits go for c4 trannys, you can almost anything you want.

SLP Mufflers?

I was wondering if any one has used slp mufflers on there V8 ranger anywhere on this forum? I was also wondering what size in/out I should get. I'm only looking to build a 300 bhp motor, so 2.5" sufficient? Or 3''? I'm not sure if I will put dumps or side exit tips yet, its all up to the piggy bank...Well see!

I would think even 2 1/4" would work good with that output. That is a good site, used it several time with good luck.
