Hello all, does anybody have any experience on what it takes to remove the steering wheel from a 1983 ranger? Since there’s no cruise control or horn in there I’m assuming it’s a matter of getting to the screws/bolts and installing a puller, correct?

That's basically all you need to do. Steering wheel removal was much easier before the advent of air bags. Welcome to the club.

My trucks not here right now but I assume there are probably some screws on the backside of the steering wheel to remove the cover and then probably one large nut that has to be removed, correct?

It's been awhile... but that is basically it.

You will need a puller to actually pull it off.

If it's like my '83, I don't think you have to remove the cover on the column. There's a little pad where the horn would normally be and you should be able to pull that off and get to the bolt that's holding the wheel on. Then use the puller or try Dirtman's method.
