Looking to upgrade my ability to tow... A 7.5 3.45 axle would be coming out to anyone who would want it.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Not sure why you specifically want 28 spline. The 31 spline is stronger. There is one in this ad listed in December. He might still have it.

Thanks for the link! Main reason is to swap in the 31 spline requires welding. I don't have access to anyone who can weld. I know the 28 spline is bolt on. Do that plus convert the rear drums to disc and I'd be pretty happy.

One of us is missing something here. What needs welding? I put a 31 spline 8.8 under my 93 and it was a pretty easy bolt-in project.

I'll defer to your experience in that case. I keep reading in my research that some welding for the spring perches is required. I think. If it bolts up clean then yes, I'd snag a 31 spline explorer 8.8 4.10 from somewhere and bolt that in. Fuel economy down but zoom zoom in the low end up.

The one I linked is a Ranger axle. It already has the spring perches on top.

The Explorer axles are the ones that need to have the perches flipped.

Right. So we are on the same page on that. However, I thought the Ranger 8.8 only came in 28 spline?

All Ford Ranger 8.8-Inch axles have 28-spline axle shafts except for the 2002 FX4 and 2003 & newer FX4 Level II models which had 31-spline shafts.

FX4 Level II for a few years had 31 spline 8.8 axles with the Thorsen limited slip. Highly sought after.

I managed to find a 8.8 4.10 coming out of a 2007 ranger with less than 100k on it from a localish junkyard. 214 out the door as long as I pick it up. Thank you to everyone who responded.
