I hear 78 - 79 full size are the way to go, Is this because they are high pinion?

Does that mean the 77 would have a low pinion?

If so, would it still be worthwhile to put these under the ranger?

Would they hold up to 35" -38" tires? (they will be abused)

Thanks.

It seems it would be a high pinion, and a good choice for sas.

The 77 i believe is the same as the 78-79 when it comes to half ton... so it should be high pinion.

When it comes to 3/4 ton, 78/79 is the way to go as the 77's are low pinion.

78-79 have cast wedges, I don't think the 77's do. I've got a 79, and it was easy to narrow due to the cast wedges, but I wish I would've gone with another axle so I could run other suspension setups if I wish. With the cast wedges I'm stuck with radius arms.

He likes coils he doesnt like hes stuck with radius arms. the 76-77 axles have removeable wedges. They were just welded on so they are a good axle to use cause of the HP and the suspension options available.

anything is possible, but it's a really ugly job to do.even a really good fabricator will have a difficult time getting decent results.i know....i've done it-once.never again.

that axle would handle 38s if you bulletproof it as i see 44s boggers with dana 44s on full sized truck out wheeling all the time with little problem but thats babying the truck little of course but now your truck with 38s on 44s bulletproofed should be fine just dont go in rocks but mud and hills good to go

You posted all this jibberish, yet have nearly the exact same question in the thread below this :icon_confused: Do everybody a favor and don't bother posting replies like this because you obviously don't have a clue as to what you're talking about.
