So I mught be pulling my engine to do a top end kit that I have and want to go over to a high volume pump and 7qt pan, since 5qt pans can be sucked dry from what I have heard. What oil pan have you guys used that will work in a 90 twin I beam with 4.0 rubber mounts?

Might be better off adding an oil cooler that holds an extra quart, you already have remote oil filter I would think

But 5 quart pan shouldn't "run dry", at higher RPMs the oil pressure bypass should just be putting oil back in the pan, I think by-pass is set for 50-60psi
A running V8 engine should only hold about 2 quarts maybe 2.5 quarts, and it drains back down pretty fast once engine/oil is warm
And that oil is still in the engine when you drain/change the oil, so 5 quarts is just the new oil added probably at least 6-7 quarts total in the system

a friend of mine ran high-volume on s10 blazer with standard pan, kept blowing oil filter seals in winter.
my brother ran a high-volume on his 95gt with stock pan for almost a year, until it got cold outside, then it blew idling in driveway to warm it up b4 work in the morning. so i just stick with a new standard volume melling and a new driveshaft. but i know nothing about 7qt pan fitment.

Oil filter blowing would be a problem in the oil pump by-pass valve

I think standard melling has a 60psi bypass, high pressure melling uses 80psi
