5 gallon gas tank in stock location on an '84?

I'm looking into swapping out my stock tank in my '84 ranger for a 5 gallon one and was wondering if anyone has done something similar, and if so what tank did you use? I use the bed on this truck so I don't want to cut any part of my bed or mount it in the bed and I want to use the stock filler. I have a 3 inch body lift so I should have a little extra room too. I only use this truck off road and don't drive it long enough to need more than 5 gallons at one time and don't like to add more than that because of the crappy ethanol in the gas (10%). The last time my truck wouldn't start I couldn't figure it out and decided to syphon some gas out to see how it looked and it looked identical to antifreeze and it was definitely all gas it just got old quick, which is what ethanol gas does. Since then I have to clear out the idle passage in the carb nearly every time I use it so I want to get rid of that tank plus if I climb some hills with less than 5 gallons in the tank and don't make it up quick I run out. thanks for any ideas.

Summit has some 5 and 8 gallon tanks/cells.

Issue will be filling it after it's installed I think, Ranger filler tube is almost as big as the tank, lol, well not quite but it will be an interesting adapter

'84 Ford will use 73-10 Ohms gauge and sender, 73ohms empty, 10ohms full, hard to replace or refit.

Just wondering if it might be possible to use the existing tank and just reduce its size, keep same filler and pump/sender, but cut and weld it to make it smaller.
Or stand it on end and fill each end with a hard resin that is not gas or methanol soluble, so reduce it's internal volume.
Once resin is hard drill through the tank into the resin and use screws to hold it in place since tank is tapered.
Not sure an expanding foam would work with gas/methanol, but maybe they make one.

Besides my speedometer none of my gauges work. So I was thinking of getting an aftermarket fuel gauge. I have other gauges on the way. I considered cutting down the tank but I think it would still be bigger than what I need if I were to keep it big enough to reuse the mounting straps. Plus my current one isn't in to good of shape. I found where I can get a new one for around $75 shipped but my current sender doesn't work and a new one is around $60. And I forgot I have a tank form a sand rail I briefly had. It's somewhat small and round but doesn't have a spot for a sender which isn't to big of a deal. I'll probably see if I can make that work. Unless I can come up with something else. But a free sand rail tank is always good so I'll probably go that route. It'll just take me awhile to get around to.
