i know people have put a 4bt in rangers, but i havnt seen one in a 1st gen. im thinking about swapping it with that if not a 302 ofc.
anyone know about 4bt in a 1st gen? is it compatible?

for anyone who does have a 4BT, what are your thoughts and opinions on it?

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
They work pretty good in Case backhoes. If you look up pictures and threads from last year's trail ride, you should see bobbywalter's rig. It's a first or second gen. It's a beast. If you look hard enough, there might be a build thread for it somewhere around here, or at least some sort of documentation.

Edit; here it is.

i know the ISB series are easy to pull power with fuel upgrades, thinking about prerunner building my ranger, question is, is the 4BT capable of making decent power?

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!

I’ve personally seen over 400hp and around 800ft/lbs from a 4bt... so, yes.

4BT it is. imo the 302 swaps are too common, i wanna go with something different and fun.

One thing you may want to consider with the 4bt is weight. So make sure your suspension is ready for it.
