Does the pin 3 have to be on a switch or can it be constantly grounded?

I have no idea, if it needs to be on a switch
I wouldn't think so, but easy enough to try, just cut the wire and twist ends together when trying to shift into 4Low

Yes, at least I have :)
Whats happening shouldn't be happening so its not a technical issue, some form of magic or a curse

Seen it before, have to hold your tongue out and in a certain way to get something to fit, everyone knows this, no technical info can explain it, but it MUST BE DONE just that way, magic

Joking aside, its just not that complicated of a system
Switch selects 4low
Controller gets 4low voltage from switch
Controller moves shift motor to 4low
You drive in 4low

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Dang it. Somebody stumped @RonD? I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to this thread.

Did you mean to type "pin 3" instead of pin 13? Or did you get mixed up and ground the wrong pin?

Have you removed the shift motor to see if it tries to turn to 4-lo? Have you tried to manually shift the t-case with the motor removed?
