I need some insight into removing a 4.0ohv engine. I have never removed this engine and I know several people have, so I would like some advice from the experienced.

It looks like I can pull this beast with the manifolds attached. Can I? Where is the best place to disconnect the exhaust for this pull; to me, it looks like I could disconnect at the Y-pipe and be good to go. FYI I am pulling the engine tranny as one if this matters.

I just do not want to get hung up when my buddy is over and I have the hoist hooked up. Thanks in advance.

Pull rad, remove Fan clutch, engine can come up and out without removing exhaust manifolds

Never tried with tranny and "Y" pipe attached but see no issues, if lift goes high enough

Remember as engine weight is removed suspension will top out
So either chain it in place, both sides, or remove front tires to lower it.

Thanks, RonD, yea after getting under there your right. I did manage to get the Y-pipe disconnected from the manifolds. The passenger side was a bit of a hassle to access, but I managed. Should be pulling everything next weekend.
