Hey guys, i just joined here hopefully you can help me out
I have a 93 ranger and i did my research and know they have lube issues in the top end, it all started in the winter it would make a quick 7 or 8 taps then it would be gone now my ranger makes a ungodly rattle when i am at high way speed (60+) and it gets put under load either accelerating or going up hill, i just wanted to make sure that i am on the right track and if anyone has used the delta cam package how it worked out, i seen on another site that a guys rocker arm blew apart. so any help is appericiated.

Sounds like it's pinging. Valve train noise really doesn't change with load.

Ive heard that EGR issues can cause pinging, but that should pop a CEL.

Pinging doesn't describe the sound, it's short for "pre-ignition". Ungodly rattle under load=pinging. If it goes away with higher octane gas it's pinging for sure.

I havent had problems with the delta cam rockers and pushrods. Still have a little noise but I am pretty sure thats from the lifters and not the rocker arms or pushrods. I used to have a bad ping or rattle underload and on highway. Replaced the lower intake manifold gasket which helped a lot and then a new MAF stopped the little bit that was left. Try high octane gas or a basic tune up. New fuel filter, plugs, wires, clean the MAF etc.
