I would like to say forst off I have been reading about all this for a while and still haven't gotten a definitive answer on my question.
My question is I have a 1985 bronco ii 4x4 At (Rebuilt A4LD last week) carbed truck. My doner truck is a 1991 4.0 4x4 at A4LD (bad trans) what is the least amount of wiring I have to do for this swap I would like to pretty much plug in and play and go. I have access to an 1990 b2 that I can take the pump out of and lines.
Also with this little wiring what gauges will work

1985 B2 will have 2.8l V6 so A4LD trans should bolt to 2.9l and 4.0l, not sure if torque converter/flex plate are the same, so you may need that from the '91.

Nothing in the 2.8l engine wiring will work for the 4.0l, if you want distributorless ignition and fuel injection.

Gauges shouldn't be an issue.

The in tank pump is fine and you can add a high pressure pump in the frame rail, that's what ford did for a few years.
If you change the in tank pump you will need to keep the float and sender from the '85.
In '86 Ford changed the in tank sender to read opposite, so your fuel gauge would be reversed, and it isn't exactly reversed so really just useless.

Tom Morana Racing makes a 4.0l intake for a 4 barrel carb:

But $500, without carb :)

2.9l(not 2.8l) distributor will fit the 4.0l, but you would have to use the troublesome TFI ignition system.

With these you could use existing wiring for the most part, so no computer needed.
