I got my 95 4.0 back from my brother after it sat for a few years at his house. It has trouble starting. Once running it won't idle. If you hold it around 2000 rpm it will idle. But once you let of it dies. You can give it gas but as soon as you start to let off the clutch it losses power it almost has to be floored to get the clutch out to move it. Where should I start first. Thanks

My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
How old is the gas in it? try getting some fresh gas in there...Besides that cheapest and easiest start would be cleaning the MAF and throttle body using proper sprays/methods. Maybe the IAC valve is stuck.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Need more description.

Is the engine smooth at 2000 rpm or is it rough and stumbles?

I poop in the furnace.
Start by getting all the rancid gas out of it and replacing the fuel filter.
