I recently bought a 01 4x4 4.0. The only issue I’ve found is a high idol, about 1800rpm, when I turn the ac off it jumps to about 2000, I would imagine that a vaccum leak would make the hubs not lock and all that seems fine, any ideas? No check engine lights or codes

My credo
Stop skipping steps and get it done right the first time.
possible causes right off the top of my head and in no particular order....
Dirty throttle body/throttle plate
IAC valve gummed up
vacuum leaks (may be heat induced and therefore only happen when car is warmed up/hot)
sticky throttle cable or cable out of adjustment.
slipping belt.

do the rpms always sit at 2000? or is it only for a short time after you turn the ac off?

I forgot to update the thread, I figured it out. The air cleaner didn’t get properly installed so a bug got sucked into the intake, I took the IAC valve off and there’s a butterfly caught between the valve😂
