After yesterday's fiasco we have learned we need new cats . So a upgrade is in our feature.
What's the best performance/ sound for a 95 with a 4.0 and keeping the oe manifold

Crossed threads are tight threads.
If you have the budget go Borla. Otherwise Gibson makes a bolt on kit....Cant go wrong w/ Flowmaster. How you plumb it after the muffler will affect sound. Piping up and over the rear axle stock style will make it much quieter vs. a turndown will be loudest inside the cab. Mine exits out the passenger side in front of the rear tire (nascar style lol).
I made my own cat back w/ a cheap single chamber muffler and some pre bent and straight pipe. Cost me about $100 bucks and a few hours because I took my time enjoying the project. I before pics, will post an after if I can dig one up.

Pretty sure the stock cats are already high flow and there are also aftermarket high flow cats as well.

i put a Gibson cat-back on my Sport Trac when it was practically new. Slam-dunk to install, sounds good but it's kinda loud.

Since you asked the magic words, "which exhaust has the best performance SOUND"; Borla, nothing sounds better.

It depends. The stainless steel is pricey, the aluminized steel costs about half as much.
But also lasts about half as long. Better to spend the money up front if you have it and save time and frustration with replacing the system you replaced about 5 years ago. In the end, the cost will be about the same over the life of a stainless steel system.

Update : after all the illegal / legal ways to do this we swapped the cats and now have a flowmaster bullet. The sound and speed have been restored and no more stalls . Thanks y'all

Yes, me. Its much easier and cheaper than running a bunch more pipe up and over the axle.

What muffler did you use? Did you have to move the muffler closer to the front of the truck?
