That's good to know! I love your truck build as well.
I think my problem is I have a focus st and 2 ford powerstrokes that all go 140mph easily and I wanted the same kind of get up and go as my other vehicles.
I like that you e already done some of these mods though!

Then its useless behind a 5.0. Need a whole new trans. Wouldn't hold up to it even if it did fit...

Yeah I dont mind getting another trans. And budget probably isn't much of the issue. I say that to try and convince myself I'm not going to spend a fortune.

If you go the explorer route... just take the trans with it. They are decent transmissions.

If you have the cash... sure an LS and 4l80e is a good combo. Lots of custom work though. Budget vs power again lol.

Why angry face @bobbywalter the 4.9 inline 6 used the m5odr2 and has a small block ford bellhousing.

Ls does sound costly. I want custom but something within my own abilities of doing alot of the work. I'm fairly new to the offroad scene and want to learn as much as possible. The cons to an Ls it sounds to me are replacing everything on the truck to fit. Which would be easier to buy a single cab chevy and prerun it out. I am leaning alot towards upgrade 4.0 or sticking with a ford based engine. I love the feed back and it's really getting the answers I need and getting me thinking about pros and cons.

Auto or manual. The m5od manual can be bolted to the 5.0. The automatic cannot.
Muh?

Niether will bolt up. If you use a plate adapter both will work. And both will die horrible deaths.

I'm this application the ls based swap is the most cost effective solution.

By miles.

It's a fukin race car.....with no race in it.

You can turbo the 4.0.....but you still need a real transmission to take the whip.

If you want light....Ecoboost 4 cyl and a 10 speed from the ranger.

If you want real power a coyote engine would be a beast... but even more work than an LS swap. Those are 600+ hp motors. :shok: but freaking massive.

The m50dr2 holds up good behind the 300 and they have just as much if not more torque than the 5.0. But yea the auto would die a horrible death...

The 302 does as well.

I read that as coming from what he has now.... the a4ld won't adapt to a sbf but a m5od r1 would. Sure the r2 will....but those are not normally on a 4.0
