Steering columns do interchange, only reason you would swap that one with your ranger is if your ranger didn't have the Tilting column, otherwise there would be no difference.I'm not sure yet but I'll be using the automatic for now, along with (if it fits) entire mountaineer dash and steering column.
The dash comes out pretty easy, and if your reasoning for swapping them is for the wiring the entire harness is bolted to the back of the dash and comes right off and swaps over back onto your grey dash.
If you are doing that to transplant the entire explorer wiring to the ranger to eliminate how to figure out any wiring, the explorer has WAAAAYYYY MORE interior/dash harness than a ranger, and it's more work than it is worth. If it's a concern about PATS, you can easily add just that part to your truck or send the 5.0 ecu out to get PATS deleted for like $100.
