Are you planning on boxing your link mounts? Just a thought if you weren't already

I agree about the frame horns, that look is so much cleaner
They dont really need it once they are burned on good but I might end up doing it with 11 gauge bent to shape steel caps for looks and a lil more support. I like that shaved look also but never had to cut any off just made the rails look that way with the plas and quarter inch flat stock

Picked up an 8 inch rear today from a Maverick, I thought it was a 9 inch at first so I just jumped on it, but anyway I might throw this in instead of the exploder 8.8 not necessarily for its strength but a with a Mild 351w and C4 it should hold up fine pending I dont do to many 5-6k launches from a dig.....

I would wisecrack about someone parting out a new Maverick truck already, but I know better. It's impressive you found one of the old Mavericks somewhere. Everyone rags on '70s cars, but in some ways they were better than a lot of more recent stuff. Also, remember that 8–inch rear is larger than the 7.5–inch diff that many Rangers have.

While you've still got it out, change the axle bearings and seals and the lube. Yeah, you probably planned to anyway, but sometimes I like to preach to the choir. :)

Changed it up a bit, I got 3 different 9 inch rears now. Two from trucks and one from a 79 lincoln mark v with disc brakes.

Found better dust shields for it brake calipers are real pain to get also but I'll send them out to get rebuilt.

I built an 8 inch for my 351 Ranger using a Mustang II housing, a Yukon aggressive clutch type differential(that I bought for my Mustang), and a set of 3.00 gears that I took out of my new 77 Mustang because they whined(and I wanted 3.40's). I bought some custom axles and 65-6 Mustang spring pads from Currie, and a bearing kit. The 10" Ranger backing plates bolted right up. The 8 inch in my Mustang has an Auburn Pro in it and survived over 20 years of drag racing and 80,000 street miles. A 9 inch is probably overkill for such a light car as your A.
My truck came with an 8.8 that was junk except for the housing, and he had welded the spring pads on the housing at 2 different angles- neither of which was right.

That's why I bought the Yukon to replace it. I needed one for the truck and it was sitting there, all paid for, so I used it.
Breakaway torque is the amount of rotational resistance an LSD has. With one wheel on the ground and one in the air, a Traction Loc has between 20 and 40 lb/ft, my Auburn Pro has 140 lb/ft so turning on dirt drags one tire and it gets hairy in the rain. But it works great on the drag strip. The biggest downfall is that the Auburn sheds metal particles into the oil and I have to change the fluid often, and replace the rear end bearings every few years.
The truck gets driven often, I haven't used a full tank of gas in the Mustang this summer and only filled it twice last year. As soon as my son builds his garage I'll give him the Mustang and help him install whatever LSD he wants or at least show him how to set it up each time he replaces the bearings.

I had an Offenhauser Dual Port on my 351 at first. Offenhauser splits the plenum down the middle instead of pairing the cylinders with the firing order in mind. I hope it works better for you than mine worked for me. My new Performer was $290 well spent.

I'm sure I can get the center cut out if it needs to be. But its a street car that will make some power like 500ish But offenhauser is the name for old school hotroders so we will see

Cutting the center divider will make it act like a single plane, that's OK if you don't need the lower end torque. With 500hp in a Model A you'll probably have enough to squeak by.

Got Y block valve covers and adapters since there are no stamped lincoln valve covers for a sbf. Gonna paint them like so probably some blue.

And add breathers to hide behind a custom air cleaner housing.

Got two pistons made out of stainless since you cant get them for a 74-75 mark 4, 76-79 mark 5, 75-79 Thunderbird rear brake calipers which is different from Versailles... and had 2 rebuilt and picked up a spare left from napa but noone has right rears anywhere.

I would like to find more of these but no joy...

Got a 32 grill and thats about it for now
