Hey folks,

I've got a 2WD '91 3.0 that I need to replace the front cover gasket and oil pan gasket. It has original 84k so age has simply taken it's toll.

I know the oil pan has to come out to get the front cover gasket out, per the shop manual. Being a 2WD, the pan can't come out with the engine just sitting there. Ford says lift the engine after lowering part of the front suspension.

Whether I go that route or simply pull the engine and work on it outside the truck, I can't figure where the lift points would be to attach a chain or whatever.

I pulled an engine on an old 1960's Volvo but that was decades ago.

I know a lot of you have done this a number of times, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks much in advance!

My 97 3.0 is leaking from the pan too. It almost looks like I can remove the pan w/o lifting the engine but it might hit the bellhousing.
I might try replacing the gasket if the pan doesn't come completely out but am concerned about removing the old gasket and not getting debris in the bottom of the pan.

The pan is a tease it looks like it will clear without atliest lifting it, but it will not clear the oil pump. I did my timing cover gasket with the engine in the truck I think I just had to remove the front 2 oil pan bolts. I usually lift it from 2 bolts in the lower intake.
