Does anyone know if a steering extension is required on a 89 Ranger when installing a 3” body lift? If so Who sells a quality extension?

I can't tell you who sells them but if you are lifting the body, the steering column is attached to the body, so will need an extension. You might need an extension for the parking brake as well. I can't think of anything else that runs from the body that needs an extension but check everything that mounts to the body including anything that mounts to the firewall and fenders in the engine bay. Like brake lines and wires.

My credo

Sometimes they have an extension for the shifter... fuel filler... bumper brackets...

I have a 3” on my 89 b2. Yes you need the extension for the steering. Check with broncograveyard. My lift came with the extension included. You will most likely have an issue with the transfer case shifter if it’s manual. The shifter will hit the front of the opening in the floor not allowing it to shift into 2 high. I trimmed the floor a smidge to rectify the issue. If you have a push button you won’t have that trouble. E brake cable will be tight. I moved the bracket on the frame under the driver higher up on the frame to fix that issue. Check the ground cable from the battery to the frame as it will pull tight when you lift as well. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
