Hey, everybody. I have signed up as a volunteer staff member for the Overland Challenge again. I did this last spring and had an awesome time. So, I wanted to let y'all know about it in case you're looking for something fun to do. Sign up as a volunteer or get a team together to compete. I believe you need a minimum of two vehicles with 2 people per vehicle to compete. All the rules are on the website.

Well, this event has been canceled. In fact, the organizers have done some soul searching and decided that, due to family changes, etc. They are discontinuing the Overland Challenge.

However...

I am going to adjust my vacation to May 2-8, which still gives me a week to have fun. But I don't have to burn as much vacation time from work. Now I need to decide where to go or what to do. Any TRS people want to hang out with me for some or all of that time? That may help me decide where to go. The following trips are on the table.

1. All or part of the Georgia traverse, concentrating on the eastern end of that.

2. Part of the Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route. Most likely the southern parts of that. Go as far as I can in half the time, then turn around and backtrack or take the Blue Ridge Parkway back south.

3. Part of the Kentucky Adventure Trail.

4. Windrock Park

5.Wildcat Park in Kentucky. This could be combined with part of the Kentucky Adventure Trail.

6. Move my vacation time to May 16-22 and join a Facebook group I follow, who are going to Rausch Creek in PA. My brother could probably join me on that one.

So, who's up for an adventure in May? Anybody? Give it some thought and reply here.

I’ve e never been to the Rausch Creek park, but I’ve spent a lot of time near by for work. Always seen the mud covered buggy’s parked outside the hotel. It’s a really nice area, lots off mountains.

The Appalachian trail runs right by there too.

Rausch Creek isn’t too far from me... 🤔

The Google maps says it’s only 13hrs by bicycle.

Ok. I moved my vacation to May 16-22. Now I just need to decide the destination.

So I had this really crazy idea of wanting to take the Bronco down to Missouri, whenever it makes its appearance. I was looking at any off-road parks down there as a possibility for a get-together. Found this one that shows a lot of promise in my opinion: Southern Missouri Off-Road Ranch https://www.facebook.com/SMORRVILLE/. It's specifically for trucks, SUVs and side-by-sides (?). I would love to take Rocko out west to hang with the Rangers and Broncos but I'm not sure that will be anytime soon. If anyone is interested, would they be up for SMORR sometime; we could put it on a list of potential get-together locations.

I might be available through that time. Just keep me updated. I've been wanting to do the Georgia Traverse with Randy aka the nissan guy haha. But might be down for something else. I'll keep an eye out for you destination decision.

Turns out my brother is unavailable during these dates. So, that, plus current gas prices rule out Rausch Creek for this spring. I'm currently leaning toward all or part of the Georgia traverse. I'll firm up my plans mid April.

It would cost between $700 and $800 for fuel alone to do the trip to Pennsylvania.

I have officially decided it will be the Georgia Traverse. May 17-22 Beginning somewhere near Greenville, SC. To help organize and communicate this and future trips, I have created a Facebook group.

Some of you who I know are here in the southeast will receive invitations to join the group. But I may inadvertently miss someone. So, find the group and join.

Rausch's fees have gotten nuts too. I'm going to AOAA for the first time this weekend
