I’ll given them a shot again. They didn’t have them a couple of months ago when I placed the order at the stealership.

I also checked the doors. All four had seam sealer. It seems I made it under the radar thus far.

I have 4 tie downs and will have to check the rest on the lot when I go by next time. It looks like we could have 8 total, anyone know if you can put two on each side up by the cab?

I don't recall and extra set of holes up by the cab. I had my bed spray lined, so it could be that they were covered with bed liner if they are there. Right now, I have two up front and four back by the tailgate area.

This is what I’m talking about. This is the drivers side by the cab. 9E9856C4-37EE-4F34-977D-3181474E38C7.jpeg

Those holes are pretty far apart for another tie down. Possibly for an accessory? The space between the tie down and the lower hole look like they are spaced close enough to rotate the tie down so it sits a little higher.

The top hole, in the pic, was one used in the front hinge brackets, on my new Undercover Tonneau cover--the hinges not only clamp to the underside of the rail, but bolt into this hole, left and right sides, creating on of the best hinge systems I've seen.--

I'll have had my Ranger for a week tomorrow and today I noticed (while showing the truck off to a friend in the pkg lot of an Outback) the missing tie-downs. Not a huge issue for me, but gaping, unfilled threaded holes bother the engineer-OCD-beejeezus out of me. Looks like they are M8x25mm, so I'll just pick four up at ACE and call it a wash.

Truck was built 7/31/2019 and has the seam sealant. That was a big 'WHEW!' as I am moving it from Texas to coastal NC and plan to do a lot of beach driving.

Thanks to the OP and others for pointing this out and offering solutions!

Make sure you give the under body a good hosing after your beach forays. Salt water plays hell on vehicles.

Our 2019 Ranger SupeCab bed came with only (4) bed tie down hooks. It's designed to have (6).

So the story goes that the factory was running low on bed tie down bracket inventory so they just used (4). It has the tapped holes in the bed for the other (2) hooks

WTF? :icon_confused: (yeah... they also shipped a bunch of trucks without any seam sealer on the door skin seams... have you looked at yours?)

So I went to the dealer, walked the sales manager out to my truck showed him the (4) hooks, the empty tapped holes and then showed him how every other Ranger on their lot had (6) hooks.

They ordered the brackets (<-- Made in Thailand) and screws and then wrote up some sort of service warranty against Ford to pay for them. It took the hooks about a month to show up because... wait for it... they were on nationwide back order.

I installed them myself (cause I don't trust the dealer to do anything) and used a 8mm-1.25 tap to chase the tapped holes to remove the factory applied Ford ToughBed spray in liner from the holes. Also added a little never seize to the tapped holes.

In case you need to do the same.. here's the P/N's of the parts.. and some photo's.

Tie Down Hook - Ford (KB3Z-21550A74-A) $6.49 ea, Quan. (2) = $12.98
Tie Down Hook Bolt - Ford (-W505594-S450B) $3.90 ea, Quan. (4) = $15.60

Hi all,

I am an owner of a brand new 2020 Ranger XL, which I drove back from the dealer lot just 3 days ago. In fact this is my first Ford vehicle ever! It replaces the Toyota Tacoma I had for the last 22 years, couldn't be happier.

Although this topic was originated more than a year ago by HenryMac, I went out to see if this issue has been addressed by the manufacturer already. I am surprised to find that the same issue still existed today (mine is build date 10/20). I don't recall hearing the salesperson mentioning anything in this regard; I seemed to have read on some literature (a product brochure maybe?) emphasizing 6 tie-down points (vs. 4) as a feature, but I couldn't find it now.

This could not be an unique situation with my new truck, and indeed it is really not that big of a deal as remedies/fixes are relatively simple. But still, I am curious that this discussion thread has been short and idle for a long time. I have also since noticed there are quite a few tapped holes (in addition to those for the missing tie-down hoods) scattered around mostly on the two side walls. As none of them were covered by the body paint I suppose they were meant for something to be bolted on. I have no idea whether these are also the "supposedly factory installed" parts missing from there? Or... are they meant for the optional drop-in bed liner for later perhaps? Incidentally, I have one on order, expecting delivery this Friday. I will attempt to install it on my own, the more I know about the installation (or pitfalls!) the better for me.

Thanks.

The extra holes are for optional accessories. Like the bed extender.

The bed is supposed to have 6 tie downs though. All of those are at the same level in the bed.

So I see. Thanks for the info.

Then, the factory should put dummy/filler bolts there...

About the four tie-down hooks, I guess Ford has made it a permanent configuration since the year-long parts supply shortage problem can not be resolved. Can other 2020 Ranger owners confirm?
