Core support is flaking but I caught it in time. The six holes in the bed floor the exhaust heat shield was hiding, however... ?

My bed looked decent under those heat shields when I pulled them off. Sprayed the crap out of everything with Fluid Film after ripping them off. The heat shield on the cross member is still there and in good shape. So, I’m calling it good. The front bed shield had a lot of trapped dirt behind it. Got a face full of dirt taking it off. :(

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Doors on my '10 are a smidge worse. My plan is to just aluminum tape the crap out of the bottom and monstaliner the whole truck. By the time my redneck fix isn't good enough to pass inspection the truck will most likely be long gone.

Core support on the other hand... Well.. I'm doing my best to mentally prepare to fix that the right way. HOPEFULLY its good for another year.. Well see when I bring it in.

PetroleumJunkie412- Don't ditch the whole truck! The door bottoms will always rot on these. Fluid film and keep them clean, just keep it up. You will never find one that is to your liking, they are all at least 10 years old by now.

You will cry when you look at your core support, I know i did when I saw mine. I plan to have it fixed at a body shop by me, they do excellent work, much better than I could.

I had the bed off my truck to fix the rust from the damn heat shields. I used Rust Bullet and it came out great, 2 years and still looks good.

The gloss black topcoat that they have would probably work perfect if you want to go that route for your door bottoms.

Bottom line, anything you get will need work.

the grey-t escape
I like POR-15 for places like the frame but its kind of hard to paint the insides of the doors with it.

Going to be a summer or two more for body work. I plan on enjoying the sleeper look for a while haha.

Blower still could use a rebuild. Odds are I'll rob the coated rotors out of one of the Pontiac M90s I have down in the bunker to eek out a little more efficiency.

Maybe when I have my New Bronco sitting in the driveway.

I never liked fooling around to much on my drivers.
