I think it would look better with a topless barbarian woman weilding a sword and swinging a burning skull while riding a unicorn painted on the side... but that's just me.

Well. Going to be a coin flip on whether or not I keep the 2011 at this point.

The bottoms of both of my front doors are rotting out. Despite my best efforts of stopping this (removed interior panels and sprayed fluid film the night I bought it, plus sprayed outsides as well), I now have paint bubbling and rot forming.

So, if anyone has a set of rust free doors that will fit and match, I'm all ears.

Or instructions on how to repair this for good. This thing CANNOT have visible rust. If it does, I have to ditch it.

the doors are not a big problem, they can be repaired or replaced.
rust in body seams, that is a major problem.

being in Pa I'm sure you already knew that.

have you looked into an electronic rust preventer? they can help the seams.

I know how you feel... mine has some of that going on too. I usually try to kill it the best I can... then use bed liner from the body line down. Not a perfect fix but it's one I have used on several Rangers over the years.

the grey-t escape
does lmc truck sell door shells? I know the metal quality might not be the best. Could always go south for factory ford doors, at least thats easier to deal with than cab corners or a core support

When my F-150 was newer (and just out of warranty) I paid a lot of money for a bodyshop to open up the bottom seam, clean it out, fold it back up and reseal three of my four doors. Drivers door was perfect and didn't need it. And now you would never know... they are freaking nasty and now it is coming out the other side too. I don't know if they didn't do it right or if there is just no fixing it. Now that I have rust holes in the bed I can fit my fist thru I am not that inclined to have it done again.

Drivers door is still perfect though. :icon_confused:

I am afraid it is kind of the nature of the beast as far as designed circa 2000 Fords go, that bottom pinch seam is a problem area. They have the same one on the bottom of the tailgate that likes to go too.

Mine are doing the same. I need to pull the door cards and see what I can do.

My ‘98 had the same problem too. I was able to get a decent passenger door and repaint it to match. After the ordeal with the windshield visor and the metallic paint my current truck has, I DO NOT want to have to paint a replacement door to match.

The eventual plan is to paint the truck in something other than red. I’m sick to death of red. Maybe a nice, flat deep forrest green...

I wouldn't look to close at the core support... but maybe they corrected that by the time they made yours.

Mine got replaced after a woman decided to cut her left turn short. Right into my truck. He Buick faired worse than the truck did.
