Hi, I have recently acquired a 2.3l 4cyl engine that came out of a 2009 ranger. I also have a 2004 ranger that has a 4.0l v6 in it but the engine is junk and has been slowly picked apart. My question is, will the 2.3 bolt up in the 04 and if so will the wire harness in the 04 work? Any additional info would be awesome

You need the wiring harness, pcm, and instrument cluster from the 2009 to use in your 2004. The transmission also wont bolt up.

Ok I have the pcm and cluster and also the transmission for the 2.3 I just need the wire harness. Thank you for your quick response. Other than that the motor will bolt right in right?

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
You're making a lot of work for yourself, I'd sell the 2.3 and find a good or reman 4.0 to swap in.

This is probably a stupid question but I’m going to ask anyways. Do I need the entire harness from the 2009 cab, like from under the dash or can I just splice the 2.3 engine harness to the 2004 cab harness?
