Hi all,

I've been a lurker on here for some time so thanks for all the help in the past. Right now, I've put 265/75r16's on my 2008 FX4, they were a little big in the front so I cranked the stock torsion keys to get 1" in lift?
If I don't do any additional lift what shocks would you recommend?

That should have Bilstein's from the factory... I would think I would just stay with those.

False, being an 08 it'll have ranchos, 07 was the last year bilsteins were offered. So with that being said go get some Bilsteins

I put the factory keys and rear blocks from a pre 2007 on my black 09. Bought Rancho shocks for Rangers with leveling kits which are about an inch longer to smooth the ride.

Agreed, I have a 2009 and did almost the same thing. I did the pre key mod a couple years ago and the Rancho 5000x shocks. Get them from summit racing. When I got mine, I had one that went bad less than 6 months after install. I called summit and I had a new shock shipped to me in a couple days FREE, and just had to send the old one back for warranty. No hassle, great customer service.

When you crank the bars up all the way, the ride will get worse (ask me how I know). It may be a good idea to do some checking.

First things first, check your door sticker and see what the spring code is (mine is bbcc). B indicates the mid level bars, 1 being the strongest and f being the softest.

If you are going to get the torsion keys from an earlier model, you might as well get the #1 bars if you don't already have them. I am putting in #1 bars this weekend. It will give you the lift you want without sacrificing ride quality.

Put in #1 bars this weekend. A pretty big difference riding on #1 bars vs. b bars. If I were you, this is the setup I would use:

#1 bars in front
Pre 2007 torsion keys (lookup on here for info)
Rancho lift shocks (RS 55374 in front, RS 55126 in rear. Rancho usually has a promotion in October if you can wait for a deal)

You can always lift the rear a little bit as well. Find a set of 2.5 inch blocks off of an earlier Ranger, and get a set of belltech 6400 shackles. Should get you about 1.5 inches of lift in the rear.

I will try to post a pic later today of mine.

Thanks for all the info, I have BBCC bars. Sounds like I will start looking for #1 bars and do the 2007 keys with a lift in the back. Thanks again

No problem. Tasca Ford sells bars. The bars used to be 160 each, but then they dropped to like 85. I picked up a set for 200 bucks with tax. They may even have the keys as well.
